This is a personal website containing accounts and photos of my coastal walks along the south coast of England. You are most welcome to view it. It may be of some use to you. Or it may give you some inspiration to do some long distance walking. I can thoroughly recommend the health benefits of walking, especially coastal walking. It doesn't need to be long distance or on the coast though; regular walking anywhere will do you good.
This site was originally called South West Coast Paths (swcp.uk) but was renamed and became Southern England Coast Paths (secp.uk) when I started to include the southeast coast in my walks.
My anti-clockwise coastal walks so far:
The Somerset section of the England Coast Path from Weston Super Mare to the starting point of the South West Coast Path (SWCP) at Minehead in Somerset (70 miles).
The SWCP from Minehead in Somerset to South Haven Point in Dorset (630 miles) over 5 years in sections of between 70 and 150 miles at a time.
The coast path beyond the finish of the SWCP at South Haven point in Dorset to the Dorset/Hampshire border at Chewton Bunny (18 miles).
The coast path from the Dorset/Hampshire border at Chewton Bunny to Milford on Sea in Hampshire and then The Solent Way from Milford on Sea to the Hampshire/West Sussex border near Emsworth (60 miles).
The England Coast Path from the Hampshire/West Sussex border near West Wittering to Brighton at the other end of West Sussex (50 miles).
My next walk will be along the coast of East Sussex on the England Coast Path towards Kent.
My other coastal walks:
The coast path from the Hampshire/Dorset border at Chewton Bunny to Sandbanks/South Haven Point in Dorset (18 miles).
The SWCP walked in the opposite direction from South Haven Point in Dorset to Lyme Regis in Dorset (89 miles).
The SWCP walked in the opposite direction from Lyme Regis in Dorset to Plymouth in Devon (123 miles).
The Tamara Coast to Coast Way from Plymouth in Devon to Marsland Mouth on the Cornwall/Devon border on the Atlantic coast.
I am now approaching my late seventies and in very good health and I am sure that regular walking has contributed greatly to my mental and physical well being.
Nowadays I don't walk as fast as I used to and I don't have the stamina that I once had, but taking it easy allows me to take more notice of my surroundings when I am walking. For me, everyday life is left behind as I walk in the countryside or along the coast.
